While the Democrats are obsessing over impeachment, important things are happening in Washington. Attorney General William Barr charged 2 special counselors with finding out if there were any abuses by the FBI, CIA or any Obama admin officials in regards to the spying of the Trump campaign prior to the 2016 election.

We don’t have the details of either report yet (neither has been made public), but some major developments have just been unveiled that allow us to draw some conclusions.

In fact, you can safely assume that the Democrats engineered this Ukraine hoax just to try and distract the public from what AG Barr is inevitably going to find. It’s a nice try, but they’ve played this hand too many times.

These investigations started simply enough. After the Mueller report proved that President Trump didn’t collude with Russia, we were left with an obvious question. Why was there an investigation in the first place?

There are really only two possibilities. The first possibility is that there was evidence of something bad, so law enforcement looked into it and found nothing wrong. That’s innocent enough, and it actually happens all the time — although not to sitting presidents.

The other possibility is that this was a political hit from the start. Democrats wanted to undermine the Republican front runner, so they drummed up some dirt and spied on Mr. Trump’s campaign.

Rather than speculate as to which was the case, AG William Barr has tasked his two investigators with finding a definitive answer. If it was innocent, no one has to worry. If it was political, then we’re looking at some Nixon-level corruption.

The general public is still missing a lot of important information. There’s enough visible dirt that we’re all assuming the Democrats were acting out of pure corruption, but there’s a difference between knowing something is wrong and being able to prove it in court.

This new development takes us one step closer to the latter. Barr opened this investigation as an administrative review. That sounds innocuous because it is. While he has been trying to get to the bottom of everything, he initially didn’t have enough evidence to call it a criminal investigation. That is what just changed.

The fact that this was formally changed to a criminal investigation means the team found things we don’t yet know about. You don’t formally change an investigation to a criminal inquiry unless there’s evidence of a crime. The team might not yet know exactly who did what, but the shift in strategy suggests that they can at least name a specific crime. That’s a BIG DEAL.

If you don’t know the name John Durham yet, it’s time to learn. Durham is the lead investigator on this team. Because it’s now officially a criminal inquiry, Durham has more power than he previously wielded. He can convene a grand jury, file criminal charges and issue subpoenas. His reach is greater and more compelling than it was, and he should be able to use those additional powers to uncover a lot more details.

Durham is the man who is going to tell us just how many of our suspicions can be proven in a court of law. When he does, we can expect a lot of Democratic heads to roll.

And, that’s exactly why they’re sweating. They thought they had gotten away with an illegal investigation into a political opponent. They used a two-year witch hunt to try and cover their crimes. Now, after all of that, it looks like justice is finally headed their way.

The time for celebration is still a long way off. We don’t know if this investigation will ultimately succeed. Even if it does, politicians have a history of escaping justice after being caught red-handed Just ask any of the Clintons.

Still, this is an important step, and it’s virtually inevitable that damaging dirt is going to stick to at least a few Democrats. We’ll see if important information makes it to the public in time for next year’s election, but either way, we should all be grateful that President Trump is making this happen.

The swamp in Washington needs to be held accountable. Maybe, just maybe, this will be the road that gets us there.
